- Open up a Word Document.
- The paper is Half Size so you need to go to “page set up” under the “file” menu and select “Half Size” or 5.5 x 8.5. If you don’t have that option you can setup a custom page size.
- Go to “Format” – “Document”.
- Under the “Margins” tab set the margins to the following values. Also, make sure to check the check box next to “mirror margins”. Since this is a book we want the margins to mirror themselves.
- Top: 0.5″
- Bottom: 0.75″
- Inside: 0.8″
- Outside: 0.25″
- Gutter: 0″
- Now your Document should be set up and ready to go, so now for the tricky part…Printing it!
- Since this is like a book with alternating margins you need to print every other page, this is how you do it.
- Go to “File” – “Print”
- Make sure the page size is still 5.5 x 8.5, if it isn’t you can change it.
- In the print settings go to “Paper Handling”
- Select “Print Odd Number Pages”
- Now your document is ready to print. Click Print.
- Now for the tricky part, your printer should print page 1,3,5,7…. and so on. They should all come out stacked on top of eachother with page 1 on the bottom and the last page on top. Simply pick up the stack, flip it over horizontally and stick it back in your printers paper tray.
- Repeat steps 7-11 only this time on step 10 select “Print Even Number Pages”.
Good luck hope it works for you, you can always play around with the margins to customize it to your needs.
Note: Before you do this on the Journal paper we suggest cutting a bunch of 8.5×11 sheets in half and testing this process out until you feel confident it will work and understand the process. Some of us at Personal Ponderings love being able to print out our Journals. We can add pictures and other things to customize the Journal even more.
